My Golden Retriever Sadie has hypothyroidism and we’ve had great success with Wellness CORE Reduced Fat formula. While not specifically prescription dog food for hypothyroidism, this high protein, low fat dog food has helped her maintain muscle mass while losing excess weight. The limited ingredient dog food approach works well for Sadie since some hypothyroid dogs develop food sensitivities. Her coat has improved significantly since switching to this weight management dog food, and she has much more energy.⚡🐶

I avoid any dog food with excessive iodine and focus on clean, simple ingredients. This approach to dog food for hypothyroidism has been successful for us, but always consult your vet before making changes to therapeutic dog food routines.

Been feeding my Beagle mix Charlie the Badlands Ranch grain-free formula for about 6 weeks now. The transition went smoother than expected and his coat has never looked shinier. Though I have to say, the price point definitely makes me think twice before reordering. Switched from Purina Pro Plan and honestly, Charlie seems more satisfied after meals, less begging and counter surfing. The ingredient list is impressive compared to what we were using before.

I’ve been nervous about switching fully, but your post gives me confidence. I feed a mix of kibble and homemade once a day right now.

Do you add any multivitamin powder or just go with whole foods? I keep seeing “Balance IT” recommended, but haven’t tried it yet.
