Hey guys!
So I switched my Golden Retriever Max to Badlands Ranch dog food about 2 months ago and wow… his coat is SO shiny now! 😍 Like seriously, people keep asking what I’m feeding him.The good stuff:
- Max LOVES the taste (he was picky before)
- His digestion is way better
- Energy levels are amazing during our walks 🚶♀️
- Real meat first ingredient, no weird fillers
The not so great:
- It’s pretty expensive 😅 like $75 for a bag
- Hard to find in stores near me
- Had to order online most times
Has anyone else tried Badlands Ranch dog food? What’s your experience been like? Worth the premium price or should I look at other options?
Also curious, do you guys feed this to multiple dogs or is it too pricey for that?

Thanks!Had a similar experience with Badlands Ranch for my German Shepherd mix, Rex. He absolutely loved the taste from day one and his digestion improved significantly. However, I found the kibble size a bit large for my friend’s Cavalier King Charles Spaniel when she tried it.
As an alternative for smaller breeds, I’d recommend Blue Buffalo Life Protection Formula, the kibble size is more manageable and still high quality. It’s slightly less expensive too which helps with the budget.
Anyone else notice their dogs drinking more water with Badlands Ranch? Rex seems to be extra thirsty lately. As always, keep monitoring your pup and chat with your vet if anything seems off.
Been feeding my Beagle mix Charlie the Badlands Ranch grain-free formula for about 6 weeks now. The transition went smoother than expected and his coat has never looked shinier. Though I have to say, the price point definitely makes me think twice before reordering. Switched from Purina Pro Plan and honestly, Charlie seems more satisfied after meals, less begging and counter surfing. The ingredient list is impressive compared to what we were using before.

My Great Dane puppy Thor has been on Badlands Ranch Large Breed formula for 8 weeks now. His growth has been steady and controlled, exactly what you want for giant breeds to prevent joint issues later. The calcium and phosphorus ratios seem well-balanced for large breed development. His coat is gorgeous and he’s maintaining a healthy lean build despite his massive appetite.
Portion control is crucial with this food though, it’s nutrient-dense so you don’t need as much as cheaper brands. Took me a few weeks to dial in the right amount for Thor’s age and activity level.
