    Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out to fellow dog parents who have experience managing canine pancreatitis, especially through homemade diets.

My dog was recently diagnosed with pancreatitis, and the vet emphasized the importance of a low-fat, easily digestible diet. We’ve tried a few prescription foods, but my pup either turns his nose up or gets mild flare-ups again. So now I’m exploring homemade food options, but I want to make sure I get it right.

    What I’ve Learned So Far:

    • Meals should be low in fat (usually under 10%)

    • Need to avoid rich meats, organ meats, and high-fat dairy

    • Focus on lean proteins (like skinless chicken breast or turkey), boiled rice, and cooked veggies

    • Small, frequent meals seem to help more than large ones

Questions I Could Use Help With:

    1. What recipes have worked best for your dog with pancreatitis?

    2. Any specific ingredients I should absolutely avoid?

    3. Do you include any supplements (like digestive enzymes or probiotics)?

    4. How do you ensure the homemade meals meet all nutritional needs (calcium, vitamins, etc.)?

    5. Anyone working with a canine nutritionist they recommend?

    Sample Recipe I’m Considering:

    • Boiled white rice

    • Steamed zucchini and carrots (blended)

    • Skinless chicken breast, shredded

    • Small pinch of plain pumpkin for fiber

    • Bone meal powder (for calcium)

Would love feedback on that or suggestions to improve it.

This is my first time managing a chronic condition through homemade food, and it’s a bit overwhelming. So I’d really appreciate any tips, success stories, or resources from others who’ve gone through the same thing.

    Thanks in advance! 🙏🐶
